UPDATE” FINALLY FIXED!
Stymied Ford Mechanics, plus spending money just to try stuff, without success, is frustrating,. And since the car ran fine most of the time, I decided to get this light out of my face and continue to march with my fix..
BUT, Since the car IS missing occasionally, and the codes state that, while in Littleton CO a Meinike dealer said the computer sees lean cylinders in the right rear two, and locks on a RICH injector, thus flooding those 2 rear cylinders.
He said it is caused by a leaking manifold or gasket, which there is a service bulletin on.
Price at Ford to Fix, Approx $1,900.
SO it turns out that this was all BULL. WHY?
*** Second UPDATE. FIXED!
A fellow subscriber wrote and told me to change the IAC
( Idle Air Control Valve).
It cost $69 from Dick at Sibley Auto parts here in town who also suggested it could be the EGR valve.
So I removed and plugged that vacuum line, and put the new IAC in.
Within 5 minutes the light turned out. Thanks so very kindly for that.
Thanks for watching.

Trick of using carb …
Trick of using carb cleaner to spray vacume lines down to check for leaks is awsome.
I’ve read that MAF sensor (mass air flow) might be the cause of current problem… getting Code: P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
Pulled and tested 4 o2 sensors (1 is 02 sensor isnew) have new catilatic coverter aswell.
Any suggestions?

Idle Air Control …
Idle Air Control Valve was one of the first things I swapted out. The idle improved but it was still idling rough.
Cleaned MAF sensor. Replaced EGR Valve, PCV valve and performance improved still more.
There is a metal tube that goes from the EGR valve to the throttle body. The rubber gasket was shot, but I couldn’t get a replacment. I took the tube out and formed a gasket with high temp (700f) RTV sealent. Threw it the oven for a couple of hours at 200f reinstalled and the truck runs awsome.
