I have a 1998 Buick Lesabre 3.8 L V-6 engine. The engine was rebuillt 50,000 miles ago, but the shop used the same belts and hoses that were on the engine before rebuild. I replaced serpintine belt today. Have noticed a small coolant leak,,,,,friom where I don’t know… I do know all hoses to heater and radiator need to be replaced, but I can’t afford to do it, right now?
Is using stop leak risky or will it help get me buy until payday Friday ?
Using ANY so called "stop-leak" product will not work on any significant leaks. If anything, you could cause further issues if it plugs up any important small coolant passages, which could lead to overheating your engine. You should make alternate arrangements for transportation until Friday.
My car ( its a little older) adn the heat or blower wont work. Nothing comes out. And my de foresters wont work either. I don’t know what to look for any thing and its the middle of winter and i need heat in my car. is there anything i can check or if andy one knows how much it will be.?
It all depends on what could be wrong. The first thing I would check would be all of the fuses.

my car was recently hit by another vehicle. When I went to the body-shop to estimate the cost of repair, they told me that most likely the repair would cost more than the value of the car, but the insurance adjuster would determine the final cost. I am afraid the cost of repair will indeed exceed the value of the car (since my car is so old). Does anyone know what typically happens in such situations? Will the insurance still pay for the repairs? Or will it junk my car & send me a check for the cost of the car? I really don’t want to lose my car (it’s still drivable & in good condition)… What are my rights in such a case? Would be grateful for any advice/knowledge!
As a New Car Dealer Collision Manager, The cost of repair sometimes is mandated by the state laws where you live. I live and work in NC and the law says that if the value of the repair cost exceeds 75% of the value of the car, it must be considered a non repairable vehicle. Other insurance companies have thier own guidelines ie: in FL the insurance company can go up to 100% of the value of your vehicle to repair it. Sometimes it is better to make a settlement and purchase another vehicle due to throwing good money into a bad car. It may be more econmically feasable for you to take the money and look for another vehicle to purchase. Sometimes you can get a real good deal on a nice used car for the money you get for your settlement. I hope that no one was injured in your accident, but if there was any personal injury claim, they may offer you additional money to close out your claim. Don’t hire an attorney unless you feel there is a significant claim to be made for all that will do is cost you money. The attorneys tell you that they can get you X amount of money, but they don’t tell you that they are going to take approximately 40% of your settlement. You may be better off just holding out till they really want to make settlement and they may offer you a substancial amount that will put you better off that before the accident. An insurance companies only obligation is to put you in the same position you were in before the accident. Contact me if you would like to discuss this further
Okay my old car (2000 Sunfire) needs brakes, rotors and wheel barings. It needs a new coolant resevoir, bc it leaks and there is also an oil leak into the 3rd cylinder (I don’t really know what that means, mechanic tells me this). I am planning on selling the car as is, but I am disclosing all this info and hoping to figure out how much these repairs would cost a) from a mechanic and B) just parts to do it yourself. Just trying to set a fair price for selling it as is! Thanks, where I live this car in good working condition goes for about $2000-2500.
Well i listed the car for 900, it isn’t it fabulous shape…. the one front tire has a slow leak and the hubcaps aren’t lookin to good either. I know its not easy work.. I was hoping someone who fixes cars would buy it and maybe re-sell it. The mechanic who looked at it didn’t seem to think the oil leak was an expensive problem.. but again, I don’t know much about cars. The body is in decent shape. No dents or anything, a tiny bit of rust and a scratch here and there but nothing significant. I am getting flooded with responses for 900 dollars, but I think once everything is on the table I will be lucky to get the 900, i just dont want to be greedy!
Btw its a 2.4 litre engine, with 170,000km (sorry not sure what that is in miles off hand) and its automatic/2 door.
With the problems you have mentioned you might only be able to get $1000-1500 for the car. Sunfire/Cavalier were both very cheap built cars, designed to give the consumer the option to buy new under $10 000. If the oil is getting into the cylinder because of blown oil rings on #3 cylinder, the engine could very well be about to go.
Brakes and bearings won’t run a do-it-yourselfer a whole lot more than $600-700, coolant reservoir is really not a huge thing either.. but that oil leak in #3 cylinder could make or break the sale. It would also help to get a compression test done on the car.
Listing the mileage/condition of body and tires would be a great help determining the value.
I got into a minor one car accident. The front bumper, driver front fender, hood, and driver door all need to be replaced. How many labor hours do you think it will take to fix? I’m trying to determine whether the insurance company will try to total it. I know the parts are going to run about $2000 without shipping. My car is worth about $9000 on NADA. Thanks for your help.
your avatar looks angry must be because of the accident…but anyway you need to ask a couple of body shops those questions they have computer programs that will answer those questions for you exactly and they dont charge they are trying to get the job..it would be very hard to ans your question without looking at your vehicle …actually impossible

I have Nissan Altima 1999 model. Some of the stitch of my rear seat is broken. I don’t know how to fix this? Is there any advice/suggestion appreated…
go to a car breakers or scrap yard buy a rear seat of the same model car it will be easier to fit the whole seat and probably cheaper than trying to stitch it
