Are your FICO scores below 580? But looking for external financial help to resolve personal needs? Poor credit personal loans are an apt financial solution for all problems.

Poor credit personal loans are available as secured and unsecured. For secured poor credit personal loans borrowers need to pledge their valuable asset as security against the loan amount. They can offer their house, car and valuable documents as collateral. A huge loan amount is offered and ranges from £5000-£75000. The repayment term extends from 5-25 years and can be easily met.

Unsecured poor credit personal loans can be availed by those who can not comply with the collateral clause. These are free from security and offer an amount that varies from £1000-£25000 for a term of 1-10 years.

Buying a home is not a spur of the moment decision. Taking time to prepare and doing the homework not only makes the process less stressful, but will make homeownership a pleasure.

Getting Organized

Start with a loose-leaf notebook and some sharpened pencils. Manila file folders are helpful in organizing bills and other documents needed for loan applications. Having a business telephone directory on hand or access to a computer is a good idea. After making calls, record the phone numbers, contact name and a short note on the conversation in the notebook under a reference tab.

Rent vs. Homeownership

For some renting makes more sense than purchasing a home. The only way to determine this is by comparing the costs of homeownership to renting.

In addition to mortgage payments (first and second mortgages) taxes and insurance (mortgage insurance and homeowner insurance) must be included in the owning a home column.

The next items in the column should be utilities. For a home these include gas, oil, electricity, water, waste disposal (garbage pickup), and optional telephone and cable costs.

Condominiums and Co-op Fees

Some first time homebuyers decide to purchase condominiums or co-operative units because many of the utility and maintenance costs are included in the homeowners’ association (HOA) fees. Include these fees on the list and remember that all utilities may not be covered. Contact several homeowners’ associations to get an idea of what the HOA fee covers.

Mortgage Credit Certificate

The Mortgage Credit Certificate program offers a federal tax credit for mortgage interest paid. Most states participate in this program. The credit can be used to increase the homeowner’s take home pay and offset the costs of owning and maintaining a home. Contact area realtors, state and county housing departments and employer payroll departments for information on this program.

Maintenance Costs

Maintenance costs cover a wide range of items from lawnmowers to roof repair. Trees have to be pruned, lawns mowed, heating systems maintained, windows caulked in cold climates, broken pipes and windows replaced, leaky faucets repaired. Make maintenance costs an item in the homeowner column.

Call local utility companies and work with a local realtor to establish a good estimate of these costs. Always go with the higher estimate.

Home Improvement Grants

Many states and counties offer home repair and improvement grants to homeowners. Homeownership is a requirement for most of these grants. Knowing the eligible areas, property types, and grant uses will assist in determining if the grants can be useful after purchasing a home. Visit myhomedownpayment.com, and contact state and local housing departments for grant information.

Intangible costs

Mortgage payments, utilities, maintenance and repairs are the tangible costs of owning a home. Intangible costs require another list that should include the following questions:

Why do I want to purchase a home?

Do I have enough time to maintain a home? (Not maintaining a home will decrease the property’s value.)

Can I change a light bulb, mow a lawn, paint the front door, replace a lock, caulk a window, repair a faucet, trigger an electrical circuit, recognize mold or termite damage?

Do I have a tool kit?

Am I willing to make financial sacrifices if owning a home costs more than I am paying in rent now?

What am I willing to cut back on financially to own a home?

Will a major financial emergency (health, car repairs, or job loss) impact my ability to make my mortgage payment?

Do I have a savings account?

If I create a budget will I stick to it?

If owning a home requires a lifestyle change, am I sure (as much as it is possible to be) I want to change for the long term?

How often do I call my landlord to make simple repairs?

Next

If you’ve come this far stay tuned the next article will cover homebuyer’s classes. Questions, comments and stories are always welcome.

Thanks to rising accident rates, rising repair costs, and rising medical costs automobile insurance rates have skyrocketed. Even so, there is a way to find low cost automobile insurance rate quotes. Here’s how …

How much automobile insurance do I need?

Most states require you to have liability coverage. This insurance is divided into three categories:

1. Bodily injury liability – pays claims made against you if you injure or kill someone. It also covers family members living with you, and pays your legal fees if you’re sued.

2. Property damage liability – pays claims made against you if you damage someone else’s car or property.

3. Personal injury protection – pays your medical expenses and your passengers medical expenses if you’re in another car or are walking.

Coverage that’s not mandatory in most states but is good to have includes:

Collision coverage – pays for damage to your car caused by another car no matter who was at fault, or damage caused by any object .

Comprehensive insurance – pays for damage to your car from fire, theft, vandalism, and acts of nature (hail, wind, etc.).

Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage – pays for you and your passenger’s medical bills and any property damage caused by an uninsured, underinsured or hit-and-run driver.

Where can I get low cost automobile insurance rate quotes?

The easiest way to find low cost automobile insurance rate quotes is to go to an insurance comparison website. There you can get quotes from a number of insurance companies so you can compare them and get the cheapest rate.

Some of these sites even have an online chat feature where you can get answers to your insurance questions from an insurance expert. (See link below.)

Rates for the exact same insurance coverage can vary as much as $1,000 from one company to the next, so it pays to spend a few minutes online to get the cheapest quote you can.

When encountered with vehicle trouble, it can be a very stressful situation. This can especially be true if your vehicle breaks down in an unfamiliar location. Thankfully, there are specific organizations that have been founded for this particular reason. We are going to take a look at the different roadside assistance programmes in the UK.

The AA has been a helpful organization for drivers all over the UK and other European locations. The earliest employees of AA were very similar to the employees of the company today. They were readily available to give members advice for all things auto-related, and they gave verbal directions. In response to a lack of signage for roads, the AA designed ‘paper routes’ in 1912. These routes contained detailed directions for all different types of individuals ranging in types of ‘day excursions’.

As the AA membership list grew in numbers, the demand for road routes did as well. After the 1920s, the organization handed out printed cards to their members that gave specific details for routes varying between two different points. By the late 1920s, there were a total of 7,000 different cards and other informative sheets being printed. There were also over a million road routes being formulated each year.

Over the years, the AA road routes and assistance programme changed dramatically. By 1999, for the first time in history, the AA route could be calculated from the AA website. The routes were available for free to not only members but also non-members. As of 2007, there were reportedly more than 171 million routes generated on the AA website.

These ‘routes’ are what help the member specify to the AA employee exactly where they are located along the route in case of a breakdown. On average, an AA employee is said to report to the breakdown site within 40 minutes of receiving the member’s call. In addition, if the AA is unable to repair your vehicle when they arrive, they will provide a tow service that will relocate your vehicle to the closest repair station.

The RAC has been in existence since 1897, and has been at the top of motoring services since the beginning. They first introduced patrol officers for driver assistance in 1901, and then shortly after installed roadside telephone boxes that still exist today. The company of RAC was purchased by Aviva plc in 2005 for around £1.1 billion. This merge brought together RAC’s customer database and the skills of motor insurance of Aviva, also known as Norwich Union Insurance.

With RAC, you can choose from several types of breakdown insurance coverage. In addition, you will receive a discount of up to 28%, and you will be covered as the driver or passenger in any car or motorbike that you ride in. The roadside assistance coverage insures that as long as you are within ¼ mile of your house, then RAC will repair your car right on the spot. If they are unable to fix the vehicle, then they will cover the tow costs to relocate your car to a repair station that is within 10 miles of the breakdown location. For the more advanced coverage plans, you can even be guaranteed a replacement vehicle for up to 3 days while your vehicle is being repaired. In some cases, you can even be guaranteed overnight lodging.

My car has A/C problems, a little rust, the speedometer isn’t working nor is the tachometer. I think also that one of the front wheel axles is needing to be repaired. Other than that, the car runs great. I just don’t want to get into a car loan which is more expensive than maybe a few thousand to fix my car. Also, with the economy being what it is, I don’t want to pay another 4 yrs on a newer car.

Girl, the speedometer and tach. are nothing in costs compared to those you are going to save over time in this "ever-changing" and "doesnt-appear-to-ever-be-turning-back" world. Gas is going through the roof. everything else is too. the economy is taking a dive through the floor. You see it, we all see it. The American Stock Exchange is dropping hundreds of points at a time, it is scary what is happening in this land we live in. And I can tell you the sped. and tach. won’t cost a lot to repair at all, just don’t bring it to a dealership to get it repaired, find a motorhead who’ll do it for cheaper, and fix it BETTER. As for your A.C. girl, i got you covered, go to WalMart (or your local equivelant) and buy a little can with the hose and nossle on it, they vary a little but they’re all called something like AC BOOST, easy to find, cheaper to buy, and going to save you BIG $$$ in the mean time of saving to repair your actual AC in your car. The other huge thing you need to take into the calculation of current times and your life as of right now is that: 4 cylinder cars, all acrossed the WHOLE U.S.A are at an actual SHORTAGE! If you get rid of your car now that is saving you more money (in the current and long run) right now than ANYTHING else on the road out there, then your going to regret it, there’s no two ways around it. I garauntee you’ll want to hold onto that car. its almost as good as gold…….have you seen how everyone wants your gold on television?? there’s a reason why*
screw those new car loans right now girl, stick it out. you can do it; you don’t know what the future is going to throw at you. SO…..avoid the ladder-effect, which can be something like:
You might be car-less because of the new car you bought, because you can’t afford to pay for it anymore, because you lost your job, because the economy, because of the the state of reality right now. You’re in control. totally.

I have an 05 Honda Civic with about 42,000 miles on it. Recently, it’s been overheating. I took it into a mechanic who wasn’t able to fix it. He had several theories (radiator, gasket, etc.). I’m now thinking about trading it in. Is it worth having the mechanic diagnose and fix the problem prior to trading it in or should I just trade it in. Will they even drive it and know that it is overheating when I trade it in.

Note – The KBB value is estimated at $12,500

Thanks for the advice!

They’ll drive it and check it out first, probably won’t drive it too far. They’ll also do a compression check on the engine. You should at least diagnose it, that way you’ll know the problem and may be able to hide it from the dealer. If it’s a head gasket, you could use that stop leak junk but it may be a simple thermostat.
Good Luck
